Application Journal 1- Proverbs

In this course, we will give attention to the implications and applications of the wisdom literature for Christian formation
and living. We will explore the practical side of this body of biblical literature as we process its significance for those who
would respond to it as scripture. As you study each of these biblical books, think through how a Christian might
appropriate each book toward the goal of being formed by it and living it out in a Christian walk.

For each Application Journal, you may use any format that you choose. Formal elements such as a cover page and
references page are not necessary. Each journal should be of a minimum of 250 words, based on your reading and
study in the unit, record your thinking on the following:

What does this book of the Bible contribute to Christian theology? How does it shape an overall Christian understanding
of God, of ourselves, of the world, and of life?

What practical significance can this book have for the formation and behavior of an individual Christian believer? In other
words, how can this book be appropriated in one’s life in a visible, tangible way? Write down a specific example of what
this might look like

One does not have to be a Christian or be personally in pursuit of the formation that you describe in order to complete
this journal. Here we are thinking about strategies for living that come from our understanding of the meaning and
purpose of the wisdom literature
