Module 1 Breakdown Part 2” – Note about relevance of sources specific to the literature review under Additional information and Constructing Your Argument

Do you think it’s a good idea to propose a research topic with max 3 research questions and objectives so that the supervisor can approve. I don’t mind paying for the additional word count. Let me know your thoughts.

For ease of reference: Extract from Module 1 Breakdown:

Your research project will need a clear title that defines the context, methodology and focus. The title should not be overly complex and will not usually be in the form of a question.

Examples:

• A case study of the management of assessment for learning in a Welsh primary school.
• An appreciative enquiry to improve communications processes in senior leadership meetings in a….

There needs to be a statement as to why the research is needed, who will be involved and who will benefit. One or possibly two key research questions define the focus and locus of study. It is these that the whole project will be designed to answer. The methodology and methods must be stated and explained. A list of indicative literature should include 4-6 seminal (highly influential) and contemporary (published in the last 5 years) sources relevant to the study. Participants need to be identified and relevant permission forms created if needed

      • Have you read a great article or book that you can share?
   2. Consider- Why is this important? Who cares about this?
   3. Discuss – So what? What difference will your research make (think small scale as this is only 10,000 words!)?
   4. Why you? – Why are you in a good position to do this research? Why are you the one to find this out?

These are the questions that ALL good projects can answer!
