I find the pattern of extraction depressing because it often leads to the exploitation of indigenous peoples and the destruction of their sacred values. However, I find the resilience of indigenous cultures hopeful because they often manage to retain their sovereignty and sacred values despite the challenges. For example, the Indigenous Environmental Network is a campaign organization that focuses on advocating for indigenous sovereignty and sacred values. I think their campaigns are very inspiring because they remind us that indigenous communities can still fight for their rights and protect their environment even when they face difficult obstacles. I think the campaigns that resonate with me the most are those that focus on the protection of sacred sites and the preservation of traditional knowledge. I think it’s important to remember that these cultures have a lot to teach us, and we need to do everything we can to protect them.
