APPENDIX A: DIRECT APPLICATION PAPER

As part of this course, you will describe a current situation (your Direct

Application Paper Work Scenario from Week 2) you have faced as an employee or manager. You should (a) include an overview of the situation answering who, what, where, when, why, and how; and (b) an analysis of the situation in light of the content we have covered in this course, including major principles related (at least three topics/theories) to your specific situation. Most of this content of this paper should be explaining business concepts from class and applying them to vour workplace scenario.

This Research Paper is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you’ve learned from the class and apply it directly to your own personal experiences. This is not a reflection on the

class and your experiences in class. Please find

below a general outline and grading rubric that you need to follow

concerning the paper. Please write this as a professional paper.

General guidelines for the paper:

• The paper should:
• Be 4-5 pages in length (not including cover page and works cited page).
• Written in paragraph form with no bullets.
• Connected to relevant class content. You must include at least 3 topics/theories from the course and effectively describe how they relate.
• Include the basic elements of a paper including an introduction, thesis statement, body of paper, and conclusion.
• Potential deductions include:
• Failure to properly proofread your paper. If you have more than five spelling or grammatical errors, you will lose 25 points.
• Failure to use APA format. If you fail to use APA formatting, you will lose 10 points.
• Failure to cite at least 2 quality references other than your textbook. You may cite your textbook in addition to these references, but at least 2 primary references are required.

Quality references means a study presented in an academic journal, and not an opinion piece, blog, or Wikipedia article. If you fail to cite 2 primary references, you will lose 10 points.

• Submission of the paper for the first 24 hours after the deadline will result in a deduction of 20 points. The paper will not be accepted more than 24 hours after the deadline and the grade on the paper will be zero (0).
