For this assignment, consider the following scenario.
You work for Sometime Project Consulting (SPC), a project management firm that opened less than a
year ago. Your supervisor has requested you do some research to find a project management
application that will meet your department’s needs. While Microsoft Project is a solid project
management application that has been suggested, your supervisor does not want to use it.
During a discussion with you, your supervisor gave you the following particulars to help you with your
research:
• SPC will only consider a free online project management application as your department has no
budget to purchase subscriptions to applications.
• SPC has 10 staff members who will use the application.
• SPC staff will need to be trained on the selected application.
• At a minimum, applications under consideration need to be able to:
o Develop project plans
o Assign tasks and resources
o Schedule tasks
o Create Gantt and other charts
o Create and manage budgets
o Track time and progress
o Allow team collaboration and communication.
To be successful, you will need to:
• Do some research to find three applications based on the criteria above.
• Identify and compare the three application options.
• Describe each project management application based on the criteria listed above.
• Include plenty of specific details to describe each application.
• Based on your research, you will recommend one of the applications you discover.
• Cite any sources used, both in-text and on a references page. APA format is recommended.
Develop your proposal using memo format using appropriate headings in the body of the proposal.
Include the following sections in your proposal:
o Cover page
o Executive Summary
o Statement of Problem
o Research
o Possible Solutions
o Recommendation
o References
