Qualitative factors do not have a direct effect on the company’s bottom line but are nonetheless crucial to its success. Qualitative factors include the size and surroundings of a community, the local educational system, and the connectivity of the community to nearby markets. Quantitative factors, on the other hand, will produce a direct and calculable effect on a company’s operations. Among these are labor rates, building costs, logistics costs, utility rates and taxes. To produce an accurate assessment of the operating costs at each site, these site-variable costs must be determined and projected out for several years.

The process is laborious and far from a science. But if the data are correctly gathered and assessed, the results can be highly useful. Doing this may require assistance from experts, such as a certified public accountant to assess and calculate the taxes and their effects on a company’s profitability. Moreover, available buildings should be evaluated by a suitable expert to determine the soundness of the building and the cost of any refurbishments that may be required (Brooks & Stamm, nd).

The structure for evaluating alternative site locations will depend on the sites’ ability to support the activities of the business. The framework that is used to assess specific locations is called EPIC framework and stands for Economic, Political, Infrastructural, and Competence (Collier & Evans, 2017). Qualitative factors that are involved in site selection can include the political nature of the community it may be entering, the population size, and the educational level of the community. Quantitative factors involved in site location are the costs of logistics, utility and tax rates, and labor rates.

The facility layouts used in manufacturing and service operations today are cellular, product, process, and fix-position layout. According to Inc. (2020), characteristics of a good layout will positively impact the needs of both customers and employees, provide a smooth workflow, and a well-functioning information system. Other characteristics of a good layout includes a useable space that promotes a productive labor force, be able to meet production output needs, and flexibility if needs change. The type of layout my work uses is the process layout. We use this layout because as a clinic we group services together such as laboratory and general medicine. Each service also uses different equipment, so it allows for our staff to be more productive by allowing them to create a workflow and processes that satisfy their job requirements.

(Group Project with Deandre Davis) In conclusion the overall goal towards our issue is to reduce the yearly customer complaints at our hotel facility “The Days Inn by Wyndham in Mission Valley.” Customer complaints range from over charging, unexpected fees, loud noise complaints, rodent and pest sightings, unprofessional front desk assistance, and unsatisfactory cleanliness. Utilizing a bar graph (Titled: Customer service complaints) and a histogram statistic chart from our 2021 yearly complaints data, the results displayed over 192 complaints with 44% mostly due to unsatisfactory cleanliness. The overall objective is to use metric description of our complaints and then factor them into how much of an expense it will cost our facility to improve conditions thus reducing complaints. A line chart titled Annual Expense will be used to display our annual expense. Will be implementing a 5-month corrective action plan beginning in Jan 2022 with a target month completion in June. Target goal is to receive less than 3 complaints a month.
