Purpose (Please read all the information below for instructions the work sheet is attached).
This assignment provides the opportunity for the student to find and appraise resources related to the PICOT question from Week 2 (chronic Hypertension in the dialysis patients over age 50). The focus of this assignment is to evaluate pertinent literature that supports the practice change intervention.
Requirements
Find and review ten (10) scholarly, peer-reviewed research articles, systematic reviews, or CPGs in support of the practice change intervention. Complete the Worksheet table for each article.

State the PICOT question
1. For each article, supply the following:
a. The complete reference for the article in current APA format
b. Description of the purpose of the study/review/practice guideline
c. Description of the evidence type
i. Research article/systematic review/CPG
ii. If a source is a research article
1. Is the study quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods?
2. Is the study experimental, quasi-experimental, or descriptive?
d. Description of the sample, sample size, and setting (not used for CPG)
e. Discussion of the data collection methods used (not used for CPG)
f. Discussion of the study findings or CPG content
g. Assessment of the limitations of the study (not used for CPG)
h. Discussion of the relevance the study to the PICOT question and advanced practice nursing
Preparing the Assignment:
1. Use the designated Research Summary Table Worksheet to supply the required information.
2. All scholarly, peer-reviewed research articles must be current – within a 5-year time frame – unless a valid rationale is provided, and the instructor has approved the use of an older reference.
3. Use APA formatting for references

P: Uncontrolled hypertension in patients over 50 requiring dialysis for chronic kidney disease
I: A nurse-led education and empowerment program for patients with uncontrolled hypertension who undergo dialysis to improve health literacy and hypertension self-management in the home environment via a non-pharmacological method to include a healthy lifestyle.
C: Administration of hypertensive medications
O: Routine blood pressure readings will improve and will stabilize in patients, thereby demonstrating that the intervention is successful.
T: The intervention and outcomes will take place over approximately 90 days.
PICOT Question: For patients > 50 with uncontrolled hypertension who receive dialysis (P), what are the outcomes of a nurse-led educational and empowerment intervention to improve hypertension self-management (I) versus routine plans of care & medication administration (C) in reducing uncontrolled hypertension (O) over a 90-day period (T)?
