Final Project: Website/Blog

For the final project, students will design a website that houses informative blogs about the musicians we studied this semester.(Hildegard von Bingen, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Elizabeth Olin and Barbara Strozzi) The website must include a “home” or “welcome” page that introduces the reader to the website’s overarching narrative/objective as well as a table of contents. The website must also contain one blog per musician studied this summer, providing biographical information, significant career highlights, images, embedded audio/visual samples of their music or other related content, and fun facts! Think of the website as a repository of knowledge designed to educate others about an amazing cast of women musicians from our study of Western art music.
Tone:
The tone of the blog can be more academic in nature, or it can be more informal. Think of the sources we used for the course and identify a “vibe”
that works for you—academic article? newspaper article? or educational blog? Remember: don’t simply regurgitate content, but add your own
analysis, ideas, insights, and takeaways. The website should be unique to you!
Required content:
• Accessible website (Wixsite, WordPress, etc.) that you can share with your instructor
o For security reasons, I recommend that you restrict access to those with whom you’ve shared a link
• Homepage with introductory overview and table of contents
• Original blogs (create individual tabs or pages) for each woman we studied this semester
• Design content (e.g., images, links to other relevant websites, audio clips, video clips etc. Remember to credit your sources!)
• Works cited page on separate tab
