Learning Goal: I’m working on a communications writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

This week’s readings focus on the interactions of government and various marginalized peoples. From the Black Live Matter to the Occupy Wall Street movements in recent years, we have seen how governmental outsiders—often underprivileged or marginalized groups—have taken action to try to change certain aspects of the government. The above-noted movements were less focused on land issues than they were on the treatment of certain people by governmental or commercial institutions. In recent years in Louisiana, there have been movements by various marginalized groups that DO focus on land use issues. These are not always related to urban land uses; but have also dealt with rural land use issues and how certain uses disproportionately impact marginalized or underrepresented peoples. Look into this topic. How have the voices of underrepresented or marginalized people in Louisiana (do not feel like you have to focus only on New Orleans) worked to be heard? What are the issues that they are concerned about? Have these efforts to be heard worked and have they changed the way that various governmental or commercial plans or activities are accomplished? Remember, this needs to focus on land issues, not just activism. You do not have to cover all of the issues that may have come up. You can focus on one or more. Like I said: do some research if you have to
