of references that helps a reader identify sources of information. An annotated bibliography is a list of references that
not only identifies the sources of information but also includes information such as a summary, a critique or analysis, and
an application of those sources’ information. Each annotation will also include a paragraph defining the relevance of the

male and female officers manage stress differently. | found an article within the textbook titled: Kurtz, D. L., & Williams,
L.S. (2008, November 12). Work Stress and Doing Police Masculinity: Stress and Emotional Responses in the Highly
Gendered Police Culture. Address presented at Annual Meeting of the ASC in Adam’s Mark Hotel, St. Louis, MO. The
authors were both social workers and wrote this report on how male and female officers handle their stress differently
than the other gender. The authors conducted a survey and found that male and female officers have different sources
of stress, and each has different ways of dealing with it. | want to research this topic further and find ways to help
officers handle stress. | believe this is an important subject because it has to do with police officers. Though the criminal
justice field, in a way, has tainted name now due to the media and other issues, some of us still feel safer knowing
there are police officers working around the clock to protect our cities or towns. Police officers are humans too, and they
too deal with work stress as well as at-home stress. If this stress is not handled correctly, it can lead to situations that
can be detrimental to the officer’s image and the criminal justice field’s image. Being a police officer is not an easy job;
the job itself is stress-inducing; dealing with criminals and investigating assaults or murders is not easy for a human. So
what are the correct ways to handle this stress for both males and females? I would like to dig deeper into this subject
and find out. thank you!
