This assignment builds upon the Problem Statement Paper

Purpose: This assignment builds upon the Problem Statement Paper, (it will form the introduction for this paper). The purpose of these assignments is to identify a healthcare problem or issue that can be resolved through nursing leadership (Part 1: Problem Statement Paper – 50 points) and then to develop an innovative plan for the resolution of the issue or problem you identified (Part 2: Innovation Paper – 100 points). These assignments address Student Learning Outcomes 1, 4, and 5.

Healthcare problems/issues can involve clinical practice, nursing education, or healthcare administration. They can be local, state, or national in scope. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about the appropriateness of a particular issue or topic. Use the Healthcare Delivery Issue Discussion Forum on Blackboard to ask questions about this assignment.

Guidelines:

•  The topic for the Innovation Paper is the same as the one used for the Problem Statement Paper unless I have approved a change to a different topic.
•  The Innovation Paper is the final section of the Healthcare Delivery Issue Paper with corrections/revisions made as necessary. (Note: Start the text of your Innovation Paper at the end of your revised Problem Statement Paper, just before the Reference list).
•  The final paper that is submitted must include:

o Title page (with running head)
o Abstract (see the APA manual for information about writing an abstract)
o Narrative with a maximum of 8 double-spaced pages (up to 3 pages from your

Problem Statement Paper plus up to 5 pages related to Innovations). You must include Headings for each of the required elements. See the APA Manual for the appropriate level of Headings.

o Reference list (at least 6 journal references total).

•  The title for this paper must reflect the problem/issue of interest (i.e., your topic) – not the

name of the assignment. Examples are Measuring Patient/Family Satisfaction or Promoting

Interdisciplinary Collaboration among Nursing Students.

•  One point will be deducted for each direct quotation used in this assignment. Paraphrasing

demonstrates your command of the subject matter.

•  Use third person only. Do not use first person (I, we, our) or second person (you, your).
