Activity – Language and Literature(Children in preschool)

Purpose

This activity aims to provide you with the opportunity to interpret your observation notes, so you can plan a meaningful and developmentally appropriate literacy activity for the children you are working with. I will not be asking for a complete lesson plan, but you should be able to provide me with observation notes that show me there is a reason for selecting your book. You will want to look at your notes to see if there are any trends in the children’s interests.

Instructions

Using the observation notes that you have taken, plan a small group literacy activity that includes the following:

1.A book that the children would be interested in based on your observations.

2.A hands-on activity that is related to the book. For example, if you read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, you could plan for the children to sequence the story using felt characters. Please describe and include the steps for your hands-on activity.

3.3 open-ended questions. The questions should make the children use critical thinking skills. If you ask yourself the question and respond with one word, you will need to rethink how you phrased it.

4.Please provide the observation notes that show the children would be interested in the book you selected.
