This 1000 word report should describe the improvement of sustainability in a residential building in Australia. You
are going to select your own home for the purpose of this assignment.

TASK

You will select your own home and describe it regarding the improvement of sustainability. You have to select,
describe and explain one energy, water or waste system which may be incorporated into your own home to assist

its environmental performance. This can mean a building product or a process.

You are welcome to clarify your own development. You must provide information on if itis a new build or retrofit,
class according to the NCC, along with stating the climate, location and orientation, the type of systems, occupancy,
and/or any relevant additional details. The chosen system/process MUST be aligned with the details specific to your
‘own house. Generic analysis will not me accounted!

Notes:

1). The system/process must be something new. For example, if you have already a pv system installed, you should
choose something new.

2) You are encouraged to search for technical data from Australian manufacturers/companies or even contact
them requesting for pricing/information on your system. This information should then be added as Appendix to
your report.

3) Your research and referencing must be used to clarify the system, how the technology works, considerations in
terms of maintenance and others.

+ The report should be in a professional format and include an executive summary, table of contents,
introduction (describing what the report entails), the main section explaining the chosen system, a conclusion
(key insights from the report) and finally a reference list (listing all the resources you have used in Harvard WSU).
Itmay be necessary to define the concept of sustainability, perhaps within the introduction of the report. A quality
report will describe the chosen system in detail, explain how it will operate and be integrated into the residential
project, in addition to listing the advantages and disadvantages of the system (the system may have pros and
cons to the environmental performancelfootprint of the building and building occupants). The system, for
‘example, may have a cost to the construction industry and the consumer. What is important is to provide your
argument for the advantages/disadvantages for the system and back up with references (this is where the
RESEARCH skill is demonstrated).
