The Literature Review

The Literature Review section should be approximate 8 to 10 pages (minimum 8 pages) that includes the following:

1) A review of the research articles

2) Appropriate Level 2 Headings based on topics of your review. You may also include Level 3 Headings if needed.

3) Proper in-text citations

4) References page

Overview of Final Research Paper Assignment (All Sections):

Over the course of this class, you will prepare a paper relating to a managerial accounting topic.

The paper will include:

• Cover page
• An introduction section (identifying the general topic to be addressed, accounting problem statement based on the general topic, brief background on topic, purpose of research, and research question(s)). Introduction section should approximate three (3) pages;
• A Literature Review (include Level 2 and Level 3 headings where appropriate). Literature Review section should approximate eight (8) to 10 pages;
• An Analysis of the research (provide findings of your research questions). The Analysis section should approximate three (3) pages; and
• A Conclusion (answer to your research questions, recommendations, and managerial implications). The Conclusion section should approximate three (3) pages;
• References section (Minimum 8 peer-reviewed journal articles – All Current)
• Please note that this course requires you to focus your research based on existing research literature from peer-reviewed journal articles.

The paper must be objectively written in the third person; papers that contain “I, we, our…” will not be evaluated. Students will utilize at least eight (8) resources (all of which should be from peer-reviewed academic research journals). Students should plan to submit 15+ pages of APA formatted text (plus a cover page and references page).

Students should begin research by reviewing and identifying research topics. During Residency, students should begin identifying sources that they will utilize in their paper. Students will prepare article abstracts for each of these journal articles and upload them to the appropriate assignment drop box during Residency. Therefore, by the end of Residency weekend, students will have collected the main resource material to be utilized in the Final Research Paper assignment sections. Students will use these reviews in the preparation of their paper so be sure to save them in MS Word format.
