‘The Journal Article and Literature Exploration assignments introduce you to the academic literature related to policing
and assist in developing individual research projects that engage with the relevant literature on the topic. This first
assignment focuses on how to read and understand a journal article.

For Journal Article Analysis |, you will first read the article “How to read a research article” on pages 13-14 of the
Policing text. At the end of Sections 1 & 8, Archbold has selected journal articles relevant to the topics discussed. You
are to select two articles, one from each chapter.

All writing/essay assignments must be in APA format with a cover page, content and citation page. Essay content must
be grammatically correct, properly spelled and punctuated as well as being supported by citations from the text or other
scholarly research, journal articles/reports andlor peer reviewed writings. Do not forget to use in-text citations to tie
information to the citations on the citation page.
