As depicted in Figure 2.1 of the textbook (pp. 19), there are 5 sources of innovation: individuals, firms, universities,
private nonprofits, and government funded research. Select one of the 5 sources and search for examples. After you’ve
researched these examples, describe the type of innovation that was produced (p. 47).

Note: There are other types of innovation listed in Chapter 3: for this assignment, please only use radical or incremental

Example: I’ve selected the source as Universities. In my research of innovations universities have produced, | found
their innovative use of gene therapy to fight cancer. As | discuss how universities created innovation in cancer research,
| will also discuss the type of innovation that gene therapy can be associated with (e.9., radical or incremental)

You may not exceed 3 pages for this paper (single-spaced, with 2 4th page for a reference page). Make sure to
thoroughly discuss your source (e.9., individuals, firms, etc.) and the type of innovation it produced. A single page will
suffice as a summary of your findings, although you may need additional pages to describe your research and articulate
