Please write an essay of at least 500 words that addresses the prompt given. Please remember to use specific evidence, including brief quotations from the texts, to support your points. (You are expected to use book below to write this essay.) Plan your essay before you write: determine which texts you will discuss, the claims you will make, and the short quotes that you will use for support. Don’t forget to include a parenthetical citation for each quote that references the page or line numbers, as appropriate.

Your essay should include a thesis, but use your time wisely. A brief introduction is fine: you should concentrate primarily on a well-developed body for this essay.

Prompt:

Identify two to three texts (all by different writers) that use the same aesthetic element to convey or reinforce their meaning. Examples of aesthetic elements you may choose to discuss are metaphorical/figurative language, distinctive diction and the tone it produces, symbolism, imagery, allusion, or irony. (Select one element common to all the works you have selected.) Explain how this aesthetic element contributes to the meaning of each work. Aim to discuss one or two of the most significant examples from each text; your primary task is to explain how the element functions in each text, not to identify examples.
