Part 1: Phosphates

1. Use the Bottled water pipet to transfer 5 mL of your bottled water sample to the Bottled water centrifuge tube.
2. Repeat step 12 for the Tap water and the Water body samples using the appropriate pipets and centrifuge tubes.
3. Add one phosphorus tablet to each tube before capping and shaking the tube until the tablet dissolves.
4. After 5 minutes, take a photo of the three phosphate tubes on a sheet of paper displaying your name and date.
5. Upload the image into Photo 1.
6. Compare the color of the solution in each tube to the phosphate color chart shown in Figure 6 and on the Water Color Chart download.

1. Record the phosphate ppm in Data Table 2.
2. Use Table 1 to interpret the results of the phosphate test and record in Data Table 2.
