Objective: To demonstrate knowledge of food webs, producers, primary consumers, secondary

consumers, tertiary consumers, carnivores, omnivores, detritivores, and herbivores.

Instructions: You will be given ONE animal. This animal needs to go into your food web. In order to

make your food web, you will need to research the animal’s predators and prey. For example, if you

are given a hawk, you would need to research what hawks eat for food as well as what animals prey

on hawks. Say you find out that humans kill hawks and that hawks eat mice. You could then find out

what mice eat for food and include it on your food web. Or, you could find out what other animals

(besides hawks) eat mice and include them on your food web. There are endless possibilities and

there is no right or wrong answer! You need to create a food web with at least 10 organisms on it.

You must print (or draw) pictures of all the organisms and include them on your poster.

Requirements:

● At least 10 organisms

● Picture of each organism

● Each organism needs to be labeled with its name (ex: “lion”)

● Arrows showing direction of energy from organism to organism

● Producers labeled

● Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary consumers labeled

● Carnivores, omnivores, detritivores, and herbivores labeled.

● Food chain is colored (or color is used on the poster to write labels
