This week, your assignment is to watch a political speech of some sort – this could be one by your local mayor, a state representative, or a candidate running for President (present or past). You can view these on various news sources or YouTube. Watch the entire speech and prepare to answer the following questions:

How does the politician display or discuss the notion of power? What types of language does the politician use to exhibit power through his/her speech?
Consider the content of the speech – what power struggles are discussed and how does the politician attempt to propose a resolution to the power struggles?
What was the purpose of the speech and what was the reaction of the audience?
What can we learn about politics and power from this speech?

Prepare a 2 page response paper addressing all of these questions. Be sure to incorporate course readings and other scholarly sources within your discussion. Please format your paper per APA requirements including a title page, proper page numbering, appropriate font and font sizes, and 1” margins. Be sure to include a brief abstract explaining the purpose of the paper.
