In March 2016, MLB hosted an exhibition game between the Tampa Rays and the Cuban National Team. The game was attended by Raul Castro, President of the Council of State of Cuba, and President Obama. Not only was this an effort to globalize baseball, but it was an effort to bridge the political and social divide between the United States and Cuba.
