Learning Goal: I’m working on a art discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Sculptures have been made for various purposes and various types of audiences. It can be for a very personal object or public display. Site-specific art is made for a particular place, where the artist considers the location as a part of the artwork. Therefore the artwork cannot be separated or apart from its intended environment. A well-known example of it is Richard Serra’s Tilted Arc.

Through this discussion, let’s think about site-specific art concerning: artists’ power, ownership of the artwork, and the meaning of public art.
