1) Choose an area of the CJ system where allegations of discrimination are known to be prevalent, or have recently been in the news cycle (past 10-15 years).

2) Obtain a research article or non peer-reviewd article or other source which examines your chosen topic (for example: sex discrimination, unfair sentencing, racial profiling, use of force, hiring practices, use of cash bonds, etc). Example of how to find articles or other material is below using an example for SHSU’s online library (Newton Gresham Library):

f. Include the link (if applicable) to your source(s) in your initial post to the Discussion Board. \

g. Your source(s) is/are not limited to the SHSU library or its collections. You may use any source that has studied/examined/researched your topic, whether you found your source at SHSU libary or via some other media/source.

3) Use the Discussion Board to briefly state your topic, and summarize the highlights/findings of your source(s).

a. Try to compare those findings to a current event regarding your topic if possible.

b. Make sure you have at least one issue and one recommendation/workable opinion about how to combat the issue.

c. Engage with at least two other peers by posting comments/questions/workable opinions about their findings/recommendations.

4) Again…Remember to cite your source(s) at very end of your initial post!
