Choose a source that Jackson cites in her chapter on “Bloodchild.”
-In one page, summarize the article/intro’s main argument AND speculate on how it relates to Jackson’s
argument. How does it support or contradict what Jackson is trying to say? You may refer, of course, to
what Jackson herself has to say about this source- but I also want you to think more broadly about how
the two arguments intersect. You can be attentive to publication date (perhaps Jackson is revising or
revisiting an older argument). Be attentive to the fact that an author often cites a text to disagree with
it. In this case, it would not ‘support’ an argument so much as offer a counter-argument.
THEN! Follow a source from the article/intro and do the exact same thing for this new source. One page
summary of the argument and speculation on how it relates to the text that cited it.
FINALLY!- Two pages on how these three sources (Jackson + 2 others) change the way you read
Bloodchild. This is meant only to be speculative, but you might also consider a provisional argument

PAPER OUTLINE:
-First page: A summary explaining the argument of “Naturally Queer” (third link) and how it relates to
Jackson’s argument (second link). The second link is Jackson’s point of view on Blood child, However just
used the parts where Jackson talks about Hyrd’s article (you’ll see it in the intext citations).
-Second Page: do the same thing as the first page except this time it’s a source from Hyrd’s. Compare
Hyrd’s argument to Margulis Lynn’s argument (fourth link).
-Third and Fourth Page: explain how these sources change the way we read “Blood Child” by Octavia
Butler (First link).
