Intro

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. A fast growth in the development and use of wireless communication technologies has led to progressive use of AI in industry and research needs. The AI methods provide many options for the applications of the intelligent technologies, smart devices, business processes, etc. to meet the future requirements [1]. Therefore, the AI plays an important role in the fourth industrial revolution since new technologies/machines and their learning methodologies are rapidly both developing and applying. The AI techniques are widely used to solve a broad range of the intractable problems in all branches of engineering including education. There are many innovative AI applications, for example, robotics, big data analytics, intelligent transportation systems and smart vehicles, internet–of–things and cyber- physical systems, universal access to education, and many others.

Students can choose one of the following two suggested AI applications for their project. The project focus of AI applications is on the Education sector. The AI applications could be software-based application or any of the hardware devices/machines.

Approach 1 (Virtual assistants). Virtual Assistants or Intelligent Personal Assistants can get the inputs in several ways such as text, voice, image. This approach provides an option of an engaging and convenient way to bring learning at home. Moreover, the user will get a lot of benefits by using such technologies, for example, support on the scheduling of the study calendars, able to listen to coaching instructions while on the go, provide instant answers to students’ basic questions in class. As result, the students and instructors utilize their time in an efficient way by saving it, promoting the personalized education within a short-time (up to few seconds), ensuring the community learning possibilities in different levels, allowing to use the specific apps on the smartphones despite missing smart speakers

Approach 2 (Smart content). There are many applications of smart content, for instance, digital textbooks, instructional snippets, videos, guides, AI tools. The use of it will benefit to the learning process since such applications create the user-oriented environment via customized options. This is a relevant topic since personalized learning is one of the future global trends in education. To achieve such target, the development and utilization of the AI tools is required by pointing out the specific areas. For example, the AR (augmented reality)/VR (virtual reality) based learning environments could be created and web-based lessons to accompany could be designed and implemented. Moreover, the AI Monitoring and Evaluation tools can streamline content for different learning styles by ensuring diversity as well as identify the gaps in defective or ineffective content in the curriculum to provide options for improvements

You are going to propose the optimum technology solution for the instructors to ensure a high teaching quality, easy and flexible management of the class as well as create the interactive and engaging learning environment for students. You have been assigned to propose the most appropriate approach that could be implemented and integrated in the class sessions.

Your primary task is to perform a background research about existing solutions of the above-mentioned approaches and propose the optimum one according to the project requirements.

The proposal should consider and cover the following points:
