A topic is not viable to research if there are not enough appropriate sources.

• Appropriate sources are academic (academic/university press publications; peer-reviewed journal articles). Documents of governments and recognized agencies, such as the United Nations, are acceptable but are notconsidered academic sources.
• You need a minimum of 4 academic sources (defined above) that are directly relevant to your research topic.
• Works that provide background or other useful information, which are not considered directly relevant, may be included in your bibliography, along with other sources (government, international agencies).
• Ideological/political/opinion pieces or news articles are not considered sources, but may be cited in your bibliography if you wish to analyze their perspectives.

Post proposals for a topic after you have done identified appropriate sources.

• Your proposal should include an annotated bibliography: a list of those sources with full bibliographic information and a summary of the source’s content.
• Your proposal and sources are only approved after I reply “Approved.” Please check and address any issues and/or questions I may raise about your proposal, including replacing sources that are inappropriate.
