Final Paper
Final paper
Students will select a health topic to provide recommendations/interventions to improve health outcomes in a
marginalized population. Students will explain why the population qualifies as marginalized and the systems
that exist to create those conditions. They will use empirical evidence from peer-review journal articles to show
the burden of the disease/health condition to the general population and the disparities that exist. Students
will provide a brief overview what has been done elsewhere for interventions to address the disease/condition
and link those interventions to the targeted population to reduce health inequities. Possible topics from the
syllabus include climate change, the environment, and health (natural disasters, air pollution, emerging and re-
emerging of infectious diseases), healthy cities (active transportation, food access), immigration (conflict/war),
One Health (partnerships in the U.S. or globally). Students may also select other topics of interest with approval
from the instructor. Paper will also include graphs and tables, pie charts, etc., for data visualization and
communication information.
The paper should be a minimum of five pages and a maximum of six,
APA format
• References should be included and will not be counted toward the
total number of pages.

for general population vs selected marginalized if data exists.
• Economic burden
• Be specific and include statistics, figures, graphs, pie charts etc.
- How is the disease being addressed, current interventions, is it working or
- not?
- And why you think the interventions will work best for the targeted
