You should pay attention in your analysis not only what we are told about Robin Hood’s character in each text but also the significance of what we are told

Is Robin Hood equally wise and/or strong in each of the texts? Is he
differently so in each? Is he more innocent or experienced in one or the other; more immature or
mature? Why would this be the case, in terms of the respective storytellers’ aims? What about
his religious dimension? Is this stable across both texts or enhanced in one or the other? Is he a
hero, in both texts, given to reflection or action—or to both?

These are merely some of the questions you might ask yourself in crafting your
comparison-contrast analysis.

Cite the text selectively, by way of key words, phrases, and (at the most) stanzas. You
should not have occasion, in a paper of this length, to cite more than two stanzas in sequence
more than twice. When you cite the text, be sure to analyze it as well. And provide
parenthetical citations of line numbers: for example, (157-58).

Your paper should be a minimum of 1250 words typed. The only additional requirement, besides
attending to the topic above, is that it MUST involve one other source besides the textbook
for the class: that is, an essay, chapter in a book, or book on Robin Hood that you use IN
NO MORE THAN TWO INSTANCES to support your points. This essay, chapter, or
book should be listed on a Work Cited page at the end of your paper. In the text of your
paper, you should cite the text parenthetically according to author’s surname and page
number: for example, (Holt 92).
