2 I work for a nonprofit here in Bolivia. Internet is not bad at my place but when I go to remote
places, there’s no coverage. I also wish we had more updated software to do our jobs.

3 Remote work is a vague term. This question isn’t specific enough. You needed to specify the
industry to establish a base for what would need to improve in set industries. Way too many
loaded questions where you wanted certain responses. This is not a credible survey.

4 Working remotely can save a lot of money in the humanitarian sector. However, more tools and

systems need to be in place to ensure improved telecommuting.

8 In-person teams that went remote during the pandemic struggle with feeling like they need to
meet all the time to make up for not being in person. I have 10-13 Zoom calls a day, which
means I need to work 12-hour days to get my work done.

3/13/2022 7:32 AM

9 I am fully remote and currently in Asia but I move country roughly monthly so I will be in
Europe soon. My company is fully remote around the world. To be more sustainable I would
have to stop travelling

3/12/2022 5:35 PM

10 I work for an NGO and I’m located in Southeast Asia. While my work with the local community
is in-person, I have to connect with my employer via Zoom often. It’s hard when the local
infrastructure lacks of good and reliable internet connection to do so. My job becomes ten
times harder because of poor connectivity.

3/12/2022 2:07 PM

11 It’s very hard to do my job in a crowded house. Too many interruptions. The internet is very

choppy.

3/11/2022 7:29 PM
12 I feel tue infrastructure here is poor when it comes to connectivity and bandwidth. 3/11/2022 7:10 PM
13 Certain parts of idea generation are lost, as most conversations have to be scheduled. No
more “water cooler” chats. Hard to catch lunch with a coworker and have an idea spark.

14 Not sure why companies require you to live in certain states when it’s remote anyways 3/9/2022 2:28 AM
15 Remote work is the ideal working environment in my opinion or as close to the ideal as
possible because it provides flexibility to focus on other aspects of your life or other
commitments. It has its challenges as well but I think they can be managed. I’m not a remote
worker at the moment but I would like to be

3/8/2022 7:56 AM

16 I love remote work, but I also do sometimes wish I had the option to go into our main office to
change up my environment and have a bit of socialization. Because I moved to New
Brunswick from Ontario (in Canada), I am no longer close to the office, but I do look forward to
the world opening back up soon and being able to go work at the library or a coffee shop in
town when it suits me. For me, I think employers should increase flexibility with working hours
and locations overall so that it is normalized for people to come and go if or when it works for
the individual, their team, and the company. Everyone has different energy levels at different
times of the days (especially creatives who may be most productive late into the night or
earlier in the morning), but many companies do still stick to the standard M-F, 9-5. Overall, I

think we all still work way too much and many of us are burned out and have little energy left
at the end of the week for more fulfilling activities. I’m happy we as a society are starting to
move to more remote working opportunities, but now I think we need to start moving to
reducing working hours too!

17 I’ve been working remotely in tech for most of the last 15 years. I moved to a NP/Gov’t agency
over the pandemic. A combination of policy and tools makes working remotely less efficient
than my past experience.

3/7/2022 12:53 PM

18 I run a nonprofit from my home so I’ve always been remote. Had to make a balance between

zoom meetings and work. Too many zoom meetings can distract from the work.

3/7/2022 11:05 AM

19 We still need a break from home and still need to feel like a part of a larger community. It

would be nice if employers could provide ways to feel involved.

3/7/2022 9:13 AM

20 Working remote has a lot of pros. The main cause is trying to find opportunities to build teams.

That can be tricky to connect.

3/7/2022 8:49 AM

21 I didnt have the ergonomic set-up that I did in the office which I miss, as well as some of that
face time with co-workers. I don’t need happy hours and special events but it was nice to grab
coffee and connect with some of my team on a more personal basis. Working from home, I
find my communication directly work related since I am using official work technology to
communicate

3/7/2022 7:44 AM

22 There are pros and cons, Remote work allows me to support more groups world wide quicker.
However on technical topics or activities that require brainstorming these or more challenging.
Usually other cultures are less inclined to speak up and say they don’t understand something
on the phone but in person they would pull you aside on a break. For me personally I have
much less distractions at home which improves my overall productivity, but you must be
proactive when you have questions to reach out.

3/7/2022 7:05 AM

23 Would never go back to an in person environment. I am a virtual bookkeeping small business

owner with no employees who deals almost exclusively with nonprofits.

3/7/2022 5:28 AM

24 For teams spanning timezones, there should be more efforts to accommodate the few
individuals that are working in a different timezone, in case of ad hoc meeting scheduling, etc.
Explicit support from a supervisor, like, “You don’t have to be at that meeting,” and efforts to
protect the workers’ work-life balance and well-being would be really appreciated, and would
also decrease illness from burnout/sickness, working around the clock. Overall more openness
to take advantage of when workers are most productive and allow for some flexible scheduling
around core hours makes sense for a remote team.

3/7/2022 12:54 AM

25 Remote work allows employers to hire from anywhere. Now cheaper offshore talent is more
competitive for my job than before. Hybrid work especially meetings are the worst.

3/6/2022 11:12 PM

29 Internet service and electricity is a nightmare in El Salvador. Can’t do my job well because of
it. Services are not consistent. Really retreat calling this place home for a few months.

3/4/2022 1:56 PM

30 I’m productive working from home. I work a solid 8-9 hours of uninterrupted work time. When I
was in the office, there were a lot of interruptions, water cooler chats, etc. I don’t think I worked
a solid 8 hours without interruptions.

3/4/2022 9:49 AM

31 Employees can slack off and waste time both at the office and at home. The productivity of
remote work is and has always been up to the professionalism of each employee – having in
mind the IT industry; other domains may be impacted in different ways.

3/4/2022 8:26 AM

32 I started working remote before Covid, thinking I could still meet colleagues from time to time.
Due to Covid, this was not possible. As such, I found very challenging to maintain relationship
with enployees. Then I changed job and still full remote. Most of the useful information get
communicated at the coffee machine within the company and I am missing this part.

3/4/2022 1:56 AM

33 I don’t really want anything to change about my remote working arrangements. It has its 3/4/2022 1:43 AM

advantages and disadvantages. I do have the problem of little support from my direct manager,
but that doesn’t really have anything to do with being remote. She’s just a bad manager, and
nothing would change if we worked in the same building. Secondly, although I often feel
isolated working from home, I do not want my employer to host more in-person meetings. I live
in a different country from where they’re based, and that would be … inconvenient to say the
least.

34 I live in Europe but work for US companies which can be a challenge due to a significant time
difference. But so far it’s actually worked great if the communication is good because I can
pick up where they leave off and vice versa so it’s like round the clock working. This new way
of working has completely changed my life!!! I am happier, healthier, and much more
stimulated and productive.

3/4/2022 1:28 AM

35 It helps that my entire company is remote. Think it’d be harder if some people were in the
office while others weren’t. Feels safer to be remote with covid and the uncertainty of whether
case numbers will surge again. I’m grateful for that.

3/3/2022 7:53 PM

36 Working remote is great. It helped me focus despite a bad culture with my previous employer. I
was able to find a better position with a global team that is a mix of in office and remote. I feel
like I missed out on in-person orientation and having a “class” of new hires. Hoping to visit my
team in the next couple of months. A+ for cats, naps, and mid day bike rides.

3/3/2022 7:42 PM

37 The biggest challenge about working remotely is still being tethered to meetings. In the office,
there is no time or ability to do the “thinking” work because there are so many distractions. A
no-meeting day or week would help. Usually when I’ve worked remote, I’m able to not have
meetings and I use that time to focus and think.

3/3/2022 6:47 AM

38 One of the challenges is that people who don’t see you actually doing the work may not realize
all that you do or what it takes to produce the result. There’s no way to remedy that without
adding to the workload of extensive and detailed reporting. Even with that, my last role thought
I didn’t do enough.

3/2/2022 9:18 PM

39 My job as a statistician for medical academics (doctors) has always had poor boundaries
because they work on research after clinical and they expect me to do so as well, weekends,
etc. Technology has made it worse. Remote work has made it worse. They text me, “I sent an
email, respond ASAP.” When I’m off with family. 🙁

3/2/2022 7:53 PM

40 I love working from home and it would be great if more opportunities are made available without
limiting some geographical areas. Employers should also respond to job applications whether
positive or negative.

3/1/2022 8:16 PM

41 I personally enjoy remote working but I do prefer of having a flexible hybrid system as well. My
job does not require to be on site all the time but there are times when i need to work with
others face-to-face. I feel remote work has given me more quality time with my family and I
value the time I can spend with them the most.

3/1/2022 2:04 PM

42 I am energetic candidate you will find me a good fit for the position I need job opportunities for
me and my family.i need earning opportunity.i am poor country I love job opportunities

3/1/2022 4:31 AM

43 I wish it was more widely accepted to be remote. Older employees don’t see the value as it’s
relatively new to them, but to respect working remotely and value my insight would greatly be
appreciated.

2/28/2022 7:33 PM

44 Remote work, in my opinion, should be an option only a 1-2 times per week, especially for
“teams” that collaborate a lot. Remote work, can sometimes create a distance between peers
that doesn’t help when it actually comes to working together on something.

2/28/2022 6:18 PM

45 The computer that I use for work is shared by my entire family. I work in my dining room with

many distractions from family members so it’s not easy to concentrate.

47 Remote work is more productive than office work, more flexibility to work, flexibility to set
priorities according to workload, and also save time (commute, Lunch, breaks)

2/28/2022 4:19 PM

48 It’s just an idea but I know that most companies have a lot of information on the computer that
they sent out with the monitors and you have to be stuck at your home in an office it’s a
blessing but then if you want it to go places or do things you can’t bring your job with you I
think a lot of jobs that are remote should be able to work from a laptop so you could move

where you want at all times and if you wanted to go away on vacation you can go on vacation
and still work but be away if that makes sense because right now I would rather have a laptop
with all my information and be able to go where I need to go and still be able to do my job that
day but because I can’t my my office is at home I would like to have that availability

49 My industry is rare disease so a remote work environment is normal and accepted. 2/28/2022 2:45 PM
50 From my point of view, a good balance between worksite and remote working is the way to go.
But equipment (and training if needed) has to be provided by the employer in order to maximize
results. Also, compensations as for other expenses the employee incurs when working
remotely (i.e. heating/cooling, connectivity, ) should be addressed.

2/28/2022 7:04 AM

51 I think now that so many more roles have become remote post-Covid, people can do more with

their careers. Change roles, go into new industries, etc.

2/27/2022 10:03 PM

52 Sometimes it is a bit difficult to work remotely especially if multiple family members live in the

house. It is easy to get distracted.

2/27/2022 9:34 PM
53 . 2/27/2022 4:20 PM
54 It is the future and simply needs to be appreciated but should include programs for the care of

children when conditions prevent schooling or care outside the home.

2/26/2022 2:02 PM

55 Remote work can be improved if the employer can provide and pay for very good internet

services and be organized and have monthly meetings to touch bases.

59 Business should re-assess their work, their positions and staff. Provide the ability to have
opportunity to work remotely, continue to work remotely. Also that if that’s no possible for the
business and they want to return to in -person work that it could take time for people to ease
back into in person working.
